It is very important for every one of all ages to train with weights for optimal health… even women! Weight training will help sculpt and shape a women’s body and help get them noticed! Also… contrary to popular belief, weight training by women will not get them big and bulky but rather help make their bodies more lean and toned! On the other hand, men obviously know that more muscle can make them feel stronger, more confident and gain more respect among their peers! So, for all of you men out there… now’s the time to get chiseled! Six pack abs are very possible! Plus, for either men or women, strengthening the body is great for your overall sense of well being! As we already mentioned, a leaner body carrying more muscle will burn more calories at any given moment than a fatter one. Note: If training with weights is just absolutely something you will not do, please at minimum read the section for cardiovascular exercise. We do however feel strongly that you should incorporate some weight training also to achieve optimal results!

The Science of Muscle Growth:
The basics of muscle growth start with the adaptation to stress related to muscular work. When muscles are stressed, they are slightly damaged, and then build themselves up just a little bit more than they were before the damage was incurred. This extra build up of muscle is performed to better prepare the body for the same stress in the future. If the stress is slightly increased the next workout, the body will be forced to grow a little bit more to adapt to the new level of stress. This progressive resistance method helps maximize the body’s adaptation response to muscle stress to optimize the muscle growth process and make it as efficient as possible. A further scientific expansion on this concept is called periodization. This is the systematic long-term planning of an athletes training program using progressive resistance training. With this understood, we will now incorporate the science of applied periodization techniques to construct a simple to follow workout plan that is guaranteed to help produce maximum amounts of lean muscle mass!
